How I came to terms with working in fashion.

In my final year of study, a question was posed - Is the fashion industry really for me? Three years, countless hours and sleepless nights spent dissecting this industry had shown me the side of fashion many fashionistas do not see.

Shrouded by beautiful creations, high-end designers, rich history and materials to make your head spin, lies an ugly, unethical, wasteful and harmful reality. Does fashion do more harm than good?

I was at a crossroads -  I loved what I did, and was good at it, but would not compromise my morals.

It seemed I had strayed from my path, only to find myself staring at the forest.

So, rather than throwing in the towel, I did what any student of design would do - I posed a challenge, and set out to solve it.

The first step was education.

The Fashion of Sustainability is a summary of what I - a design student searching for answers, learnt about my industry. Much to my delight, I came across numerous brands, initiatives and designers dedicated to producing ethical, sustainable and practical goods. Consumer product awareness is ever-increasing, leading the Fashion Industry to a much more mindful future.

I look forward to contributing and learning from such an ever-evolving industry,
